विराट उवाच
परोक्षं नाभिजानामि विग्रहं युवयोर् अहम् ॥
अर्थतत्त्वम् अविज्ञाय किं नु स्यात् कुशलं मम ॥
वैशंपायन उवाच
ततस् तु सभ्या विज्ञाय कृष्णां भूयो ऽभ्यपूजयन् ॥
साधु साध्व् इति चाप्य् आहुः कीचकं च व्यगर्हयन् ॥
सभ्या ऊचुः
यस्येयं चारुसर्वाङ्गी भार्या स्याद् आयतेक्षणा ॥
परो लाभश् च तस्य स्यान् न स शोचेत् कदा चन ॥
वैशंपायन उवाच
एवं संपूजयंस् तत्र कृष्णां प्रेक्ष्य सभासदः ॥
युधिष्ठिरस्य कोपात् तु ललाटे स्वेद आसजत् ॥
अथाब्रवीद् राजपुत्रीं कौरव्यो महिषीं प्रियाम् ॥
गच्छ सैरन्ध्रि मात्र स्थाः सुदेष्णाया निवेशनम् ॥
भर्तारम् अनुरुध्यन्त्यः क्लिश्यन्ते वीरपत्नयः ॥
शुश्रूषया क्लिश्यमानाः पतिलोकं जयन्त्य् उत ॥
मन्ये न कालं क्रोधस्य पश्यन्ति पतयस् तव ॥
तेन त्वां नाभिधावन्ति गन्धर्वाः सूर्यवर्चसः ॥
अकालज्ञासि सैरन्ध्रि शैलूषीव विधावसि ॥
विघ्नं करोषि मत्स्यानां दीव्यतां राजसंसदि ॥
गच्छ सैरन्ध्रि गन्धर्वाः करिष्यन्ति तव प्रियम् ॥

sabhyā ūcuḥ
yasyeyaṃ cārusarvāṅgī bhāryā syād āyatekṣaṇā ||
paro lābhaś ca tasya syān na sa śocet kadā cana ||
vaiśaṃpāyana uvāca
evaṃ saṃpūjayaṃs tatra kṛṣṇāṃ prekṣya sabhāsadaḥ ||
yudhiṣṭhirasya kopāt tu lalāṭe sveda āsajat ||
athābravīd rājaputrīṃ kauravyo mahiṣīṃ priyām ||
gaccha sairandhri mātra sthāḥ sudeṣṇāyā niveśanam ||
bhartāram anurudhyantyaḥ kliśyante vīrapatnayaḥ ||
śuśrūṣayā kliśyamānāḥ patilokaṃ jayanty uta ||
manye na kālaṃ krodhasya paśyanti patayas tava ||
tena tvāṃ nābhidhāvanti gandharvāḥ sūryavarcasaḥ ||
akālajñāsi sairandhri śailūṣīva vidhāvasi ||
vighnaṃ karoṣi matsyānāṃ dīvyatāṃ rājasaṃsadi ||
gaccha sairandhri gandharvāḥ kariṣyanti tava priyam ||
Virata said: "I do not know what dispute lies hidden between you two. Not knowing the truth of the matter, how could I act rightly?" Vaishampayana said: Then the assembly, understanding Krishna, honored her all the more and said, "Well done, well done," while they condemned Kichaka. The assembly said: "He whose wife this all-lovely, wide-eyed woman were to be would gain the highest fortune and would never grieve at all." Vaishampayana said: Thus the members of the assembly honored Krishna as they looked upon her there, but from anger sweat broke out on Yudhishthira's brow. Then the Kaurava spoke to the beloved princess, his queen: "Go, Sairandhri, do not stand here. Go to Sudeshna's dwelling. Wives of heroes, devoted to their husbands, endure hardship; worn by their service, they win their husband's world. I think your husbands see no time for anger, and that is why gandharvas bright as the sun do not rush to your side. You do not know the right time, Sairandhri; like a dancing-girl you run about and disturb the Matsyas at play in the royal assembly. Go, Sairandhri. The gandharvas will do as pleases you."
