आचक्षध्वं पुरं गत्वा संग्रामे विजयं मम ॥
कुमाराः समलंकृत्य पर्यागच्छन्तु मे पुरात् ॥
वादित्राणि च सर्वाणि गणिकाश् च स्वलंकृताः ॥
ते गत्वा केवलां रात्रिम् अथ सूर्योदयं प्रति ॥
विराटस्य पुराभ्याशे दूता जयम् अघोषयन् ॥
tatas tadvacanān matsyo dūtān rājā samādiśat ||
ācakṣadhvaṃ puraṃ gatvā saṃgrāme vijayaṃ mama ||
kumārāḥ samalaṃkṛtya paryāgacchantu me purāt ||
vāditrāṇi ca sarvāṇi gaṇikāś ca svalaṃkṛtāḥ ||
te gatvā kevalāṃ rātrim atha sūryodayaṃ prati ||
virāṭasya purābhyāśe dūtā jayam aghoṣayan ||
After these words, Matsya, King Virata, commanded his messengers: 'Go to the city and tell of my victory in battle. Let adorned youths come out to me from the city, along with all the musical instruments and well-adorned dancing girls.' They traveled the whole night, and toward sunrise, at the approaches to the city of Virata, the messengers proclaimed the victory.'
