विराट उवाच
उपपन्नं कुरुश्रेष्ठे कुन्तीपुत्रे धनंजये ॥
य एवं धर्मनित्यश् च जातज्ञानश् च पाण्डवः ॥
यत्कृत्यं मन्यसे पार्थ क्रियतां तदनन्तरम् ॥
सर्वे कामाः समृद्धा मे संबन्धी यस्य मे ऽर्जुनः ॥
वैशंपायन उवाच
एवं ब्रुवति राजेन्द्रे कुन्तीपुत्रो युधिष्ठिरः ॥
अन्वजानात् स संयोगं समये मत्स्यपार्थयोः ॥
ततो मित्रेषु सर्वेषु वासुदेवे च भारत ॥
प्रेषयाम् आस कौन्तेयो विराटश् च महीपतिः ॥
ततस् त्रयोदशे वर्षे निवृत्ते पञ्च पाण्डवाः ॥
उपप्लव्ये विराटस्य समपद्यन्त सर्वशः ॥

ya evaṃ dharmanityaś ca jātajñānaś ca pāṇḍavaḥ ||
yatkṛtyaṃ manyase pārtha kriyatāṃ tadanantaram ||
sarve kāmāḥ samṛddhā me saṃbandhī yasya me 'rjunaḥ ||
vaiśaṃpāyana uvāca
evaṃ bruvati rājendre kuntīputro yudhiṣṭhiraḥ ||
anvajānāt sa saṃyogaṃ samaye matsyapārthayoḥ ||
tato mitreṣu sarveṣu vāsudeve ca bhārata ||
preṣayām āsa kaunteyo virāṭaś ca mahīpatiḥ ||
tatas trayodaśe varṣe nivṛtte pañca pāṇḍavāḥ ||
upaplavye virāṭasya samapadyanta sarvaśaḥ ||
Virata said: 'This befits the best of the Kurus, Dhananjaya son of Kunti, the Pandava who is ever devoted to dharma and knows what is right. Whatever you deem fitting, Partha, let it be done at once. All my desires are fulfilled now that Arjuna has become my kinsman.' When the king spoke thus, Yudhishthira, son of Kunti, gave his consent to this union between the Matsyas and the Parthas. Then the son of Kunti and King Virata sent word to all their friends and to Vasudeva. When the thirteenth year had come to an end, the five Pandavas settled in every respect at Upaplavya, in Virata's realm.
