तथा विराटनगरे योन्यन्तरगतैर् इव ॥
प्राप्तः परमसंक्लेशो यथा पापैर् महात्मभिः ॥
ते सर्वे पृष्ठतः कृत्वा तत् सर्वं पूर्वकिल्बिषम् ॥
सामैव कुरुभिः सार्धम् इच्छन्ति कुरुपुंगवाः ॥
तेषां च वृत्तम् आज्ञाय वृत्तं दुर्योधनस्य च ॥
अनुनेतुम् इहार्हन्ति धृतराष्ट्रं सुहृज्जनाः ॥
न हि ते विग्रहं वीराः कुर्वन्ति कुरुभिः सह ॥
अविनाशेन लोकस्य काङ्क्षन्ते पाण्डवाः स्वकम् ॥
यश् चापि धार्तराष्ट्रस्य हेतुः स्याद् विग्रहं प्रति ॥
स च हेतुर् न मन्तव्यो बलीयांसस् तथा हि ते ॥
tathā virāṭanagare yonyantaragatair iva ||
prāptaḥ paramasaṃkleśo yathā pāpair mahātmabhiḥ ||
te sarve pṛṣṭhataḥ kṛtvā tat sarvaṃ pūrvakilbiṣam ||
sāmaiva kurubhiḥ sārdham icchanti kurupuṃgavāḥ ||
teṣāṃ ca vṛttam ājñāya vṛttaṃ duryodhanasya ca ||
anunetum ihārhanti dhṛtarāṣṭraṃ suhṛjjanāḥ ||
na hi te vigrahaṃ vīrāḥ kurvanti kurubhiḥ saha ||
avināśena lokasya kāṅkṣante pāṇḍavāḥ svakam ||
yaś cāpi dhārtarāṣṭrasya hetuḥ syād vigrahaṃ prati ||
sa ca hetur na mantavyo balīyāṃsas tathā hi te ||
And for thirteen years they were then sent to wander in the great wilderness. In the assembly hall they were also subjected to humiliations of every kind, together with their wife, valiant as they were. And great were the sufferings they had to endure in the forest. These virtuous princes also had to endure in the city of Virata inexpressible miseries, such as only the wicked suffer when their souls pass into the forms of lower beings. You, best of the race of Kuru, setting aside all these wounds of the past, they desire nothing but a peaceful settlement with the Kurus! Remembering their conduct, as well as the conduct of Duryodhana, the latter's friends should entreat him to consent to peace!
