Translation

Yudhishthira said: "Here have gathered the Pandavas, the Srinjayas, Krishna, Yuyudhana, and Virata; O son of Suta Gavalgana, tell us all that Dhritarashtra bade you say." "Sanjaya said: 'I greet Yudhishthira, Vrikodara, and Dhananjaya, and the two sons of Madri, and Vasudeva, scion of Sura, and Satyaki, and the aged ruler of the Panchalas, and Dhrishtadyumna, son of Prishata. Let all listen to the words I speak out of a desire for the welfare of the Kurus. King Dhritarashtra, joyfully welcoming the prospect of peace, hastened to have my chariot prepared for this journey here. May this be acceptable to King Yudhishthira, together with his brothers, sons, and kinsmen. May the son of Pandu prefer peace. The sons of Pritha are endowed with every virtue: evenness of temper, gentleness, and sincerity. Born in a noble family, they are humane, liberal, and unwilling to commit acts that would bring shame upon them. They know what ought to be done. A base deed does not befit you, for you are so magnanimous and possess so formidable a host.
