Translation

Vaishampayana said: 'Hearing these words of Bhima, so full of gentleness and so unexpected -- as if the hills had lost their weight, or fire had grown cold -- Keshava, Rama's younger brother, born of the race of Sura, mighty-armed, wielder of the bow called Saranga, laughed loudly, and, as though wishing to hearten Bhima with his words, like a breeze fanning a flame, addressed him who was then so overcome by a rush of goodness, saying: "On other occasions, O Bhimasena, you applaud nothing but war, eager to crush the wicked sons of Dhritarashtra who delight in destroying others. O scourge of foes, you do not sleep but keep watch the whole night through, lying face down. You often utter dreadful cries of wrath that betray the storm within your heart. You sigh, O Bhima, with a troubled heart, like a flame of fire mixed with smoke."'
