Translation

He who possesses the strength of ten thousand elephants and the swiftness of the wind, he who is mighty and ever wrathful among the sons of Pandu, he who always does good to his brothers and is therefore dear to them all, he, O slayer of Madhu, who killed Kichaka together with all his kinsmen, he who is the slayer of the Krodhavashas, of Hidimba and of Baka, he who in valor equals Shakra, and in might the god of Wind, he who is terrible, and in wrath equal to Madhava himself, he who is foremost of all crushers — that wrathful son of Pandu and chastiser of foes, who, restraining his fury, his might, his impatience, and governing his own soul, is obedient to the commands of his elder brother — tell me, O Janardana, tell me, how fares that crusher of immeasurable valor, that Bhimasena, who also lives up to his name in every aspect, that Vrikodara with arms like maces, that mighty second son of Pandu? O Krishna, that two-armed Arjuna, who ever deems himself the equal of his thousand-armed namesake of old, and who with a single release discharges five hundred arrows — that son of Pandu who in the use of weapons equals King Kartavirya, in strength the sun-god Aditya, in mastery of the senses the great sage, in forgiveness the Earth, and in valor Indra himself — he by whose valor, O slayer of Madhu, the Kurus, foremost among all kings of the earth, obtained this vast and gloriously blazing empire — he whose skill in arms is ever honored by the Pandavas — that son of Pandu who is the foremost of all warriors on chariots and whose valor cannot be broken — he from whose meeting in battle no enemy ever escapes with his life — he, O Achyuta, who is the conqueror of all yet cannot himself be conquered by anyone — he who is the refuge of the Pandavas as Vasava is of the gods — how, O Keshava, is that Dhananjaya now, your brother and friend? He who is compassionate to all creatures, endowed with modesty and versed in mighty weapons, gentle, tender and virtuous — he who is dear to me — that mighty archer Sahadeva, that hero and ornament of assemblies — he, O Krishna, who is young in years, devoted to the service of his brothers, and skilled in virtue and advantage, whose brothers, O slayer of Madhu, ever applaud the character of this my noble-souled and well-bred son — tell me, O descendant of Vrishni, of that heroic Sahadeva, that foremost of warriors, that son of Madri who ever waits obediently upon his elder brothers and so respectfully upon me. He who is gentle and young in years, who is bold and handsome in person — that son of Pandu who is dear to his brothers as to all, and who is truly their very life though walking about in a separate body — he who is versed in the various ways of waging war — he who is endowed with immense strength and is a mighty archer — tell me, O Krishna, whether my dear child Nakula, who was raised in luxury, fares well now — answer me.
