Translation

«'As my dharma rests on truth, as fire is pleased by truth, and Shakra is pleased by truth, by that truth go to heaven.' Then Ashtaka, the royal sage, Kaushika, son of Madhavi, who knew dharma, spoke to him who had performed many hundreds of sacrifices: 'By the hundreds I have performed Pundarika rites, Gosava sacrifices, and offerings, O lord; receive their fruit. Neither jewels, nor wealth, nor other possessions have I left unused in the sacrifices; by that truth, go to heaven.' And as each of the daughter's grandsons in turn spoke thus to that lord of men, the king would leave the earth and rise toward heaven.»
