ततस् तस्मिन् क्षणे राजंश् चोदितो वानरध्वजः ॥
सध्वजं सरथं साश्वं भीष्मम् अन्तर्दधे शरैः ॥
स चापि कुरुमुख्यानाम् ऋषभः पाण्डवेरितान् ॥
शरव्रातैः शरव्रातान् बहुधा विदुधाव तान् ॥
तेन पाञ्चालराजश् च धृष्टकेतुश् च वीर्यवान् ॥
पाण्डवो भीमसेनश् च धृष्टद्युम्नश् च पार्षतः ॥
यमौ च चेकितानश् च केकयाः पञ्च चैव ह ॥
सात्यकिश् च महाराज सौभद्रो ऽथ घटोत्कचः ॥
द्रौपदेयाः शिखण्डी च कुन्तिभोजश् च वीर्यवान् ॥
सुशर्मा च विराटश् च पाण्डवेया महाबलाः ॥
एते चान्ये च बहवः पीडिता भीष्मसायकैः ॥
समुद्धृताः फल्गुनेन निमग्नाः शोकसागरे ॥
tatas tasmin kṣaṇe rājaṃś codito vānaradhvajaḥ ||
sadhvajaṃ sarathaṃ sāśvaṃ bhīṣmam antardadhe śaraiḥ ||
sa cāpi kurumukhyānām ṛṣabhaḥ pāṇḍaveritān ||
śaravrātaiḥ śaravrātān bahudhā vidudhāva tān ||
tena pāñcālarājaś ca dhṛṣṭaketuś ca vīryavān ||
pāṇḍavo bhīmasenaś ca dhṛṣṭadyumnaś ca pārṣataḥ ||
yamau ca cekitānaś ca kekayāḥ pañca caiva ha ||
sātyakiś ca mahārāja saubhadro 'tha ghaṭotkacaḥ ||
draupadeyāḥ śikhaṇḍī ca kuntibhojaś ca vīryavān ||
suśarmā ca virāṭaś ca pāṇḍaveyā mahābalāḥ ||
ete cānye ca bahavaḥ pīḍitā bhīṣmasāyakaiḥ ||
samuddhṛtāḥ phalgunena nimagnāḥ śokasāgare ||
Then in that very moment, O king, urged on by Krishna, Arjuna of the monkey banner covered Bhishma with arrows, along with his standard, chariot and horses. But Bhishma, bull among the chief Kurus, with volleys of his own scattered again and again the volleys of arrows loosed by the Pandava. His arrows pressed hard the king of the Panchalas, Drupada, the valiant Dhrishtaketu, the Pandava Bhimasena, Dhrishtadyumna the son of Prishata, the twins, Chekitana, the five Kekayas, Satyaki, the son of Subhadra, Ghatotkacha, the sons of Draupadi, Shikhandi, the valiant Kuntibhoja, Sushkarman, Virata, and other mighty allies of the Pandavas. All these and many others, tormented by Bhishma's arrows and as if drowning in an ocean of grief, were rescued by Phalguna.
