यथा दाशरथी रामः खरं हत्वा महाबलम् ॥
हाहाकारो महान् आसीत् त्रिगर्तानां जनेश्वर ॥
राजपुत्रं हतं दृष्ट्वा निरमित्रं महाबलम् ॥

Translation
Having slain him, the mighty-armed Sahadeva shone forth like Rama, son of Dasharatha, after slaying the mighty Khara. A great cry of woe arose among the Trigartas, O lord of the people, when they saw the prince Niramitra, mighty as he was, struck down.

Sahadeva is likened to Rama, who slew the rakshasa Khara: the victory of the righteous over an evil power echoes the Lord's eternal deed in the form of Rama. It is telling that the epic again measures the battle against the standard of the Ramayana, seeing in every triumph over untruth a reflection of divine action. The verse teaches that every victory of dharma over adharma partakes of one source -- the deed of the Lord descending to deliver the world from evil; and the valor of the righteous shines with the same light that once shone forth in Rama.
