अद्य कुन्तीसुतान् सर्वान् वासुदेवपुरोगमान् ॥
त्वा संक्षयिष्यामि र्वैर् नुरैः
निवा लं र्वं यं योत्स्या पाण्डवान्
स्य तद् नं श्रुत्वा हृष्टो दुर्योनस् दा
प्रतिपूज्याब्रवीद् वाक्यं भ्रातृभिः रिवारितः
त्वां पुस्कृत्य णं यं योत्स्याहे रान्
हि वैरान्तसः स्थास्यन्ति सैनिकाः
वम् अस्त्व् ति राजानम् क्त्वा राक्षपुंवः
भ्ययात् त्वरितो भीमं हितः पुरुषानैः

adya kuntīsutān sarvān vāsudevapurogamān ||
hatvā saṃbhakṣayiṣyāmi sarvair anucaraiḥ saha ||
niraya balaṃ sarvaṃ vayaṃ yotsyāma ṇḍavān ||
tasya tad vacanaṃ śrutvā hṛṣṭo duryodhanas ta ||
pratijyābrad vākyaṃ bhrātṛbhiḥ pariritaḥ ||
tvāṃ puraskṛtya sagaṇaṃ vayaṃ yotsyāmahe parān ||
na hi vaintamanasaḥ sthāsyanti mama sainikāḥ ||
evam astv iti nam uktvā kṣasapuṃgavaḥ ||
abhyat tvarito bhīmaṃ sahitaḥ puruṣāśanaiḥ ||

"Today, having slain all the sons of Kunti with Vasudeva at their head, together with all their followers, I shall devour them; hold back all your army — we shall fight the Pandavas." Having heard that word of his, Duryodhana, delighted then, having honored him, spoke this word, surrounded by his brothers: "Having placed you foremost with your retinue, we shall fight the enemies; for my soldiers will stand firm only when not minded toward ending this feud."
