"[The gods and sages sang his praises:] 'You are the sage, you are the greatly fortunate one, you are the god, lord of birds; you are the lord, radiant as the sun; you are our highest refuge. Full of waves of strength, virtuous, unbroken in spirit, replete, irresistible — this is you; [in you is] all austerity and [sacred] knowledge, O unblemished in glory, and all that is to come and all that has come. You are the supreme one; this whole world, moving and unmoving, you illumine with your rays, like the sun; again and again eclipsing the splendor of the radiant [sun], you are the end of all that is constant and inconstant. As the enraged sun of day would burn all beings, so do you burn them, O you who resemble the eater of oblations (Agni); terrible, like the risen fire of the world's end (pralaya), destroying [all], bringing about the close at the turning of the ages. We have come to the lord of birds for refuge — to the greatly resplendent one, dispeller of darkness, wanderer of the clouds; to the mighty Garuda, ranger of the skies, [encompassing] the highest and the lowest, bestower of boons, unconquerable in valor.' Suta said: 'Thus praised by the gods together with the hosts of sages, Suparna (the Beautiful-Winged One) drew in [tempered] his heat.'"
