Here the wisdom of the peacemaker and the sanctity of the order given from above reveal themselves. The Valakhilyas, having been insulted, possess the power to create a new Indra who would overthrow the proud one — yet Kashyapa, the spiritual preceptor, without annulling their austerity (for the word and resolve of an ascetic cannot be undone), redirects its fruit into another channel: the one born will become not a rival to Indra but "Indra of the winged creatures" (Garuda). Thus the contradiction is resolved: the sages' austerity is not lost, and the world order established by Brahma is preserved. Here is an important principle: the wrath of the righteous is effective and irrevocable, but wisdom is able to turn it toward good without violating the higher will. Remarkable, too, is the humility of the Valakhilyas themselves: once their anger has cooled, they entrust the fruit of their labor to Kashyapa — for the true ascetic is not attached to revenge, and his strength serves dharma rather than self-love. Thus offended purity, without renouncing its own power, meekly subordinates it to the higher good — and from wrath is born not destruction, but Garuda, the future servant of the Lord.
