Here the rakshasi's anxiety is born not of doubt in Bhima but of experience. Telling is her explanation: she is afraid not because she reveres Bhima little, but because she has seen how her brother destroyed people: knowledge of past crimes gives rise to fear. In this is the natural caution of a loving heart: it trembles for the beloved even while believing in his strength. So the text shows the subtlety of her feeling: both reverence for Bhima's valor and the anxiety of love that remembers the enemy's might. It is this very love that will make her an ally of the righteous.
