ध्रुवम् एष्यति भीमः अयं निहत्य पुरुषादकम्dhruvam eṣyati bhīmaḥ ayaṃ nihatya puruṣādakamsurely this Bhima will return, having slain the man-eater;
यथा तु इदं न विन्देयुः नराः नगरवासिनःyathā tu idaṃ na vindeyuḥ narāḥ nagaravāsinaḥ[but] so that the people, the city-dwellers, do not learn of this,
तथा अयं ब्राह्मणः वाच्यः परिग्राह्यः च यत्नतःtathā ayaṃ brāhmaṇaḥ vācyaḥ parigrāhyaḥ ca yatnataḥthus this brahmin must be instructed and carefully persuaded [to silence]."

Here Yudhishthira, persuaded, turns his earlier alarm into approval. It is telling that he accepts his mother's decision, recognizing in it both deliberation and compassion: the wise know how to set aside their own fear once a higher truth is revealed. Telling, too, is his concern for secrecy -- rejoicing in the coming victory, he does not forget the caution of an exile. Here is the humility of the righteous before truth, and a sobriety not lost even in joy. Thus the scripture shows a harmony in which Kunti's devotion and Yudhishthira's discernment meet; the dispute of loving hearts is resolved in a shared mind that prepares the deliverance of the brahmin family and of the whole city.
