वसिष्ठः परमेष्वासं सत्यसंधो द्विजोत्तमः ॥
ततः प्रतिययौ काले वसिष्ठसहितो ऽनघ ॥
ख्यातं पुरवरं लोकेष्व् अयोध्यां मनुजेश्वरः ॥

Traducción
The gandharva said: "'I shall do it' — thus Vasishtha, the truthful, best of the twice-born, answered that archer-king; and then, in due time, the lord of men set out together with Vasishtha for Ayodhya, the best of cities, renowned throughout the worlds."

Here the saint fulfills the request of the very man who destroyed his sons. Telling is Vasishtha's magnanimity: bearing no grudge, he agrees to serve the continuation of the line of his recent enemy. Thus is shown the fullness of forgiveness turned into active good: the saint not only refrains from vengeance but does good to his offender. Thus the text reveals the summit of freedom from malice; and Vasishtha, true to his word, goes to Ayodhya to grant the line of Ikshvaku an heir.
