Traducción

‘The wise man unites place, time, means, auspicious signs, and welfare for growth according to his strength. Everything must be done without carelessness: in all endeavors, effort remains the chief guide. With one who is superior, one should pursue one's aim through conciliation; but if needed, one may seek out his weak point, his misfortune, or his ruin — for even the ocean and the mountain have their vulnerability, how much more a mortal. He who acts continually and seeks out opportunities is freed from debt both to another and to himself. One must never despise oneself: one who despises himself never knows prosperity. Such is the manifold path of success. This is what the brahmin taught, whom my father had lodged with us; he instructed my brothers in the statecraft of Brihaspati, and I heard these discussions in my father's house.’
