Lomasha said: 'Once, the fearless Yavakri, wandering in the month of Madhava, made his way to the hermitage of Raibhya. In the sacred ashram, adorned with flowering trees, he saw his daughter-in-law walking about like a kinnari, O Bharata. Shameless, his mind stolen away by desire, Yavakri said to the modest woman: "Attend upon me." Knowing his nature, and fearing both his curse and the power of Raibhya, she said: "So be it," and departed. Then, leading him into seclusion, she plunged him into the water, O Bharata. At that moment Raibhya, the scorcher of foes, came to his own ashram. Seeing his weeping daughter-in-law, the grieving wife of Paravasu, he comforted her with gentle words and questioned her, O Yudhishthira. The lovely woman told him everything -- what Yavakri had said, and how she, having thought it over carefully, had answered him. As Raibhya listened to the account of Yavakri's deed, a great anger arose in him, as though burning his heart.'

Knowledge without self-mastery leads Yavakri to a coarse violation of another's household. His fall begins not from someone else's enmity, but from his own lack of restraint.
