Hearing the envoy's speech, King Yudhishthira said: 'It is good fortune that King Suyodhana is performing the chief rite that magnifies the glory of our forebears. We too shall come, but now we cannot in any way: we must keep our term until the thirteenth year.' Hearing the Dharmaraja's word, Bhima said: 'Then King Dharmaraja Yudhishthira will come when, after the thirteenth year, in the sacrificial rite of battle, this lord of men casts him into the fire blazing with weapons and swords. When the Pandava releases upon the sons of Dhritarashtra the oblation of his wrath, then we shall come -- so you must tell Suyodhana.' The other Pandavas said nothing unpleasant, and the envoy reported to the son of Dhritarashtra everything just as it had happened. Then the foremost of men, the lords of various countries, and the great brahmins came to the city of Dhritarashtra. They were honored according to the shastra, by rank and in due order, with the greatest joy and affection. Dhritarashtra, surrounded by all the Kauravas, said to Vidura with great joy: 'Kshattar, arrange quickly that all the people be satisfied in the sacrificial hall and supplied with food.' Vidura, receiving this command, wise and versed in dharma, honored all the classes according to their due measure: with delicacies, food and drink, garlands, fine fragrances, and various garments he joyfully provided for them. Having performed the avabhritha according to the shastra and in due order, the king of kings consoled his guests, gave them varied riches, and dismissed the thousands of kings and brahmins. Having dismissed the kings, the lord, surrounded by his brothers, entered Hastinapura together with Karna and Saubala.'

Yudhishthira keeps to the term of exile even in the face of the enemy's invitation. Bhima, however, reminds us that peaceful patience does not cancel the future answer to unrighteousness.
