Vaishampayana said: "The king of the Matsyas, having observed Brihannada in the arts, in dance, and likewise in music, and having noted the firmness of his lack of manhood, then sent him to the maidens' quarters. Dhananjaya, the lord, taught singing and instrumental music to Virata's daughter, as well as to her friends and attendants; the Pandava became dear to them. Thus Dhananjaya, master of himself, lived there under his vow, doing what pleased them, together with them; and there no one recognized him as he truly was, neither those who moved about outside nor those within."
