ताम् अब्रवीद् राजपुत्री विराटवचनाद् इदम् ॥
सैरन्ध्रि गम्यतां शीघ्रं यत्र कामयसे गतिम् ॥
राजा बिभेति भद्रं ते गन्धर्वेभ्यः पराभवात् ॥
त्वं चापि तरुणी सुभ्रु रूपेणाप्रतिमा भुवि ॥
सैरन्ध्र्य् उवाच
त्रयोदशाहमात्रं मे राजा क्षमतु भामिनि ॥
कृतकृत्या भविष्यन्ति गन्धर्वास् ते न संशयः ॥
ततो मां ते ऽपनेष्यन्ति करिष्यन्ति च ते प्रियम् ॥
ध्रुवं च श्रेयसा राजा योक्ष्यते सह बान्धवैः ॥
tām abravīd rājaputrī virāṭavacanād idam ||
sairandhri gamyatāṃ śīghraṃ yatra kāmayase gatim ||
rājā bibheti bhadraṃ te gandharvebhyaḥ parābhavāt ||
tvaṃ cāpi taruṇī subhru rūpeṇāpratimā bhuvi ||
sairandhry uvāca
trayodaśāhamātraṃ me rājā kṣamatu bhāmini ||
kṛtakṛtyā bhaviṣyanti gandharvās te na saṃśayaḥ ||
tato māṃ te 'paneṣyanti kariṣyanti ca te priyam ||
dhruvaṃ ca śreyasā rājā yokṣyate saha bāndhavaiḥ ||
The princess told her Virata's word: ‘Sairandhri, go quickly, wherever you wish. The king fears defeat at the hands of the gandharvas — blessings upon you. And you are young, fair-browed, unmatched in beauty on earth.’ Sairandhri said: ‘Let the king bear with me for just thirteen more days, radiant one. Then the gandharvas will, without doubt, accomplish their task. After that they will take me away and do what pleases him; the king, together with his kinsmen, will surely be joined with good fortune.’
