Traducción

'Desiring to fight you both, I have come to this mountain. Grant me this hospitality. I have cherished this wish for a long time.' Addressed in this way, Nara and Narayana said: 'O best of kings, there is no place here for anger and greed. How, then, could battle be possible here? There are no weapons here, nothing of falsehood or malice. Seek battle elsewhere. There are many kshatriyas on earth.' Rama continued: 'Though the king addressed them thus, he still insisted that they give him battle. The rishis, however, kept calming him and paid no heed to his persistence. King Dambhodbhava, still thirsting for battle, repeatedly challenged these rishis to fight. Then Nara, O Bharata, taking a handful of blades of grass, said: "However much you desire battle, come, O kshatriya, and fight! Take up all your weapons and array your forces. This day I shall curb your zeal for battle!" Then Dambhodbhava said: "If, O ascetic, you think that this weapon of yours can be used against us, I will fight you, even though you may use it, for I have come here desiring to fight." Having said this, Dambhodbhava, together with his whole army, desiring to kill that ascetic, covered every side with a shower of arrows. But that ascetic, with the aid of those blades of grass, foiled all those terrible arrows of the king, which were capable of maiming the bodies of hostile warriors. Then the invincible rishi loosed toward the king his terrible weapon made of blades of grass, which could not be withstood. And most wondrous was what then occurred, for that ascetic, incapable of missing, with mere blades of grass pierced and severed the eyes, ears, and noses of the hostile warriors, aided also by his power of illusion.'
