Traducción

Narada: Narada continued: 'Here is that vast and renowned city of cities, called Hiranyapura, belonging to the Daityas and Danavas, possessed of a hundred different kinds of illusion. Here, in these regions called Patala, it was built with great care by the divine architect and laid out by the danava Maya. Endowed with great energy and heroism, many danavas who had received boons (from Brahma) in former times lived here, displaying thousands of different kinds of illusion. They could not be conquered by Shakra or by any other denizen of heaven — not by Yama, nor Varuna, nor the Lord of Treasures (Kubera). Here dwell, O Matali, those asuras called Kalakhanjas, who sprang from Vishnu, and those rakshasas, also called Yatudhanas, who sprang from the feet of Brahma. All of them are endowed with terrible teeth, fearsome strength, the speed and power of the wind, and immense energy grounded in the powers of illusion. Besides them, there dwells here yet another class of danavas, called Nivatakavachas, invincible in battle.'
