वैशंपायन उवाच
दुर्योधनस् तु तच् छ्रुत्वा निःश्वसन् भृकुटीमुखः ॥
राधेयम् अभिसंप्रेक्ष्य जहास स्वनवत् तदा ॥
कदर्थीकृत्य तद् वाक्यम् ऋषेः कण्वस्य दुर्मतिः ॥
ऊरुं गजकराकारं ताडयन्न् इदम् अब्रवीत् ॥
यथैवेश्वरसृष्टो ऽस्मि यद् भावि या च मे गतिः ॥
तथा महर्षे वर्तामि किं प्रलापः करिष्यति ॥
vaiśaṃpāyana uvāca
duryodhanas tu tac chrutvā niḥśvasan bhṛkuṭīmukhaḥ ||
rādheyam abhisaṃprekṣya jahāsa svanavat tadā ||
kadarthīkṛtya tad vākyam ṛṣeḥ kaṇvasya durmatiḥ ||
ūruṃ gajakarākāraṃ tāḍayann idam abravīt ||
yathaiveśvarasṛṣṭo 'smi yad bhāvi yā ca me gatiḥ ||
tathā maharṣe vartāmi kiṃ pralāpaḥ kariṣyati ||
Vaishampayana: 'Make every effort to keep him safe, for I am well pleased with the thought of giving this Naga, O Muni, my beloved daughter.'
