"'I accept this maiden from you for the fruit of one son. And let the horses, once they reach my hermitage, all remain with me.' Then Vishvamitra of great splendor took his pleasure with her and begot a son, the son of Madhavi, Ashtaka. Vishvamitra of great splendor, immediately after the birth, endowed this son with riches, with dharma, and with those horses. Then Ashtaka set out for a city shining like Somapura; and Kaushika, having returned the maiden to his disciple, went into the forest. And Galava, together with Suparna, having delivered the dakshina, with a heart full of joy, spoke these words to the maiden."

Vishvamitra accepts Madhavi only for the sake of one son, and then bestows on Ashtaka wealth, dharma, and the horses. Thus material dakshina, the birth of a son, and spiritual duty are joined together in a single completion: the disciple's debt returns to the teacher without any violence done to the truth.
