अगस्त्यशास्तां च दिशं प्रयाताः स्म जनार्दन ॥
अचिरेणैव कालेन प्राप्स्यामो यमसादनम् ॥
अहं चान्ये च राजानो यच् च तत् क्षत्रमण्डलम् ॥
गाण्डीवाग्निं प्रवेक्ष्याम इति मे नास्ति संशयः ॥
कृष्ण उवाच
उपस्थितविनाशेयं नूनम् अद्य वसुंधरा ॥
तथा हि मे वचः कर्ण नोपैति हृदयं तव ॥
सर्वेषां तात भूतानां विनाशे समुपस्थिते ॥
अनयो नयसंकाशो हृदयान् नापसर्पति ॥
कर्ण उवाच
अपि त्वा कृष्ण पश्याम जीवन्तो ऽस्मान् महारणात् ॥
समुत्तीर्णा महाबाहो वीरक्षयविनाशनात् ॥
agastyaśāstāṃ ca diśaṃ prayātāḥ sma janārdana ||
acireṇaiva kālena prāpsyāmo yamasādanam ||
ahaṃ cānye ca rājāno yac ca tat kṣatramaṇḍalam ||
gāṇḍīvāgniṃ pravekṣyāma iti me nāsti saṃśayaḥ ||
kṛṣṇa uvāca
upasthitavināśeyaṃ nūnam adya vasuṃdharā ||
tathā hi me vacaḥ karṇa nopaiti hṛdayaṃ tava ||
sarveṣāṃ tāta bhūtānāṃ vināśe samupasthite ||
anayo nayasaṃkāśo hṛdayān nāpasarpati ||
karṇa uvāca
api tvā kṛṣṇa paśyāma jīvanto 'smān mahāraṇāt ||
samuttīrṇā mahābāho vīrakṣayavināśanāt ||
"We have set out toward the southern quarter ruled by Agastya, O Janardana; soon we shall reach the abode of Yama. I, the other kings, and this whole assembly of kshatriyas shall enter the fire of the Gandiva: of this I have no doubt." Krishna said: "Surely, today this earth stands before its destruction, since my words, O Karna, do not enter your heart. When the destruction of all beings draws near, dear one, unrighteousness, wearing the semblance of wisdom, does not depart from the heart." Karna said: "Perhaps, O Krishna, we shall yet see one another alive, having come through this great battle, this destruction that annihilates heroes, O mighty-armed one."
