अभिमन्युं बृहन्तं च द्रौपदेयांश् च सर्वशः ॥
धृष्टद्युम्नमुखान् एतान् प्राहिणोत् पाण्डुनन्दनः ॥
भीमं च युयुधानं च पाण्डवं च धनंजयम् ॥
द्वितीयं प्रेषयाम् आस बलस्कन्धं युधिष्ठिरः ॥
भाण्डं समारोपयतां चरतां संप्रधावताम् ॥
हृष्टानां तत्र योधानां शब्दो दिवम् इवास्पृशत् ॥
स्वयम् एव ततः पश्चाद् विराटद्रुपदान्वितः ॥
तथान्यैः पृथिवीपालैः सह प्रायान् महीपतिः ॥
भीमधन्वायनी सेना धृष्टद्युम्नपुरस्कृता ॥

gaṅgeva pūrṇā stimitā syandamānā vyadṛśyata ||
Abhimanyu, Brihanta, and all the sons of Draupadi, along with these warriors led by Dhrishtadyumna, the delight of Pandu sent forth. Bhima, Yuyudhana, and Dhananjaya the Pandava Yudhishthira sent as a second corps. The noise of the joyful warriors there, loading equipment, moving about and hurrying to and fro, seemed to touch the sky. After that the lord of the earth himself, accompanied by Virata, Drupada, and the other kings, set out following. The army with its formidable bows, led by Dhrishtadyumna, looked like the full and calmly flowing Ganga.

His ordering does not look like blind fury; it is the deliberate organization of a dharmic war, where each hero receives a place according to his own nature and power. The image of the army as a full Ganga carries the book to the threshold of battle: negotiations, embassies, warnings, and vows are complete, and now the accumulated fate moves on like a river.
