Traducción

The unmoving beings, sprouting from the earth, are declared to be of five kinds: trees, shrubs, creepers and vines, bark-cored plants, and the grass species. Among these, together with the five great elements, the number is declared to be twenty-four; such is the Gayatri, recognized by the world. O best of the Bharatas, whoever truly knows this holy Gayatri, endowed with every virtue, does not lose the worlds. For everything is born upon the earth, and upon the earth everything perishes. The earth is the foundation of beings; the earth alone is their final refuge. Whoever holds the earth holds the whole world, unmoving and moving alike. And so kings, greedily attached to it, slay one another.
