When this deafening, hair-raising sound arose, mighty-armed Bhimasena bellowed like a bull. Bhima's roar surpassed the din of conches and drums, the trumpeting of elephants, and the lion-roars of the armies. The sound of Bhimasena drowned out the noise of thousands of neighing horses in the battle ranks. Hearing his roar, like the thunder of a storm-cloud and the crash of Indra's thunderbolt, your troops trembled. All the beasts of burden, in terror, voided dung and urine, like lesser animals before a lion. Displaying his terrible form, roaring like a thundercloud, and terrifying your sons, Bhima advanced upon your army."

Here Bhima appears as the embodied force of retribution. His roar is not merely loud in a physical sense: it lays bare the fear hidden in the hearts of those standing on the side of untruth.
