स संन्यस्य महच् चापम् अभिवाद्य पितामहम् ॥
नेत्राभ्याम् अश्रुपूर्णाभ्याम् इदं वचनम् अब्रवीत् ॥
आज्ञापय कुरुश्रेष्ठ सर्वशस्त्रभृतां वर ॥
प्रेष्यो ऽहं तव दुर्धर्ष क्रियतां किं पितामह ॥

sa saṃnyasya mahac cāpam abhivādya pitāmaham ||
netrābhyām aśrupūrṇābhyām idaṃ vacanam abravīt ||
ājñāpaya kuruśreṣṭha sarvaśastrabhṛtāṃ vara ||
preṣyo 'haṃ tava durdharṣa kriyatāṃ kiṃ pitāmaha ||

Traducción
Arjuna set aside his great bow, bowed to the grandsire, and, with eyes full of tears, said: "Command me, best of the Kurus, foremost among all bearers of weapons. I am your servant, O unassailable one; what shall I do, grandsire?"
