युयुत्सुं पाण्डवार्थाय यतमानं महारथम् ॥
सुबाहुर् भ्रातरं शूरं यत्तो द्रोणाद् अवारयत् ॥
सुबाहोः सधनुर्बाणाव् अस्यतः परिघोपमौ ॥
युयुत्सुः शितपीताभ्यां क्षुराभ्याम् अच्छिनद् भुजौ ॥

Traducción
Yuyutsu, who was fighting zealously for the cause of the Pandavas, that great charioteer, turned aside from Drona -- Subahu, his own brother, a warrior. Subahu was shooting, both arms with bow and arrow mighty as clubs; Yuyutsu with two keen, gilded razor-arrows severed both his arms.

Here a brother severs a brother's arms: Yuyutsu, the only one of Dhritarashtra's sons to stand for the right, fights against his own Subahu. All the grief of a fratricidal war is condensed into this image. Yuyutsu has chosen dharma against blood -- and the price of that choice is bitter: his weapon turns against his own family. It is telling that tradition does not turn away from this horror, yet does not condemn Yuyutsu either. This teaches that loyalty to the right sometimes forces a man to raise his hand against his own, and in this lies the tragic cost of a moral choice; that fratricide is the ultimate evil of war within a family, laying bare all its unnaturalness; and that one who, for dharma's sake, tears the bonds of blood bears a heavy cross -- to be righteous at the price of a wound dealt to kin.
