गन्धर्वा घोषयात्रायां चित्रसेनादयो जिताः ॥
यूयं तैर् ह्रियमाणाश् च मोक्षिता दृढधन्वना ॥
निवातकवचाश् चापि देवानां शत्रवस् तथा ॥
सुरैर् अवध्याः संग्रामे तेन वीरेण निर्जिताः ॥
दानवानां सहस्राणि हिरण्यपुरवासिनाम् ॥
विजिग्ये पुरुषव्याघ्रः स शक्यो मानुषैः कथम् ॥
प्रत्यक्षं चैव ते सर्वं यथा बलम् इदं तव ॥
क्षपितं पाण्डुपुत्रेण चेष्टतां नो विशां पते ॥

gandharvā ghoṣayātrāyāṃ citrasenādayo jitāḥ ||
yūyaṃ tair hriyamāṇāś ca mokṣitā dṛḍhadhanvanā ||
nivātakavacāś cāpi devānāṃ śatravas tathā ||
surair avadhyāḥ saṃgrāme tena vīreṇa nirjitāḥ ||
dānavānāṃ sahasrāṇi hiraṇyapuravāsinām ||
vijigye puruṣavyāghraḥ sa śakyo mānuṣaiḥ katham ||
pratyakṣaṃ caiva te sarvaṃ yathā balam idaṃ tava ||
kṣapitaṃ pāṇḍuputreṇa ceṣṭatāṃ no viśāṃ pate ||

"...were slain by the lord of men [Arjuna] -- and that is known to you. The gandharvas at the ghosha-yatra, Chitrasena and the rest, were defeated; you, being led away captive by them, were freed by the firm-bowed one. And the Nivatakavachas, enemies of the gods, unconquerable by the gods in battle, were defeated by that hero. Thousands of danavas dwelling in Hiranyapura were conquered by the tiger among men; how then is he conquerable by men? And before your very own eyes, everything -- how this your army [perished before him]."
