अर्जुन उवाच
गायामि नृत्याम्य् अथ वादयामि; भद्रो ऽस्मि नृत्ते कुशलो ऽस्मि गीते ॥
त्वम् उत्तरायाः परिदत्स्व मां स्वयं; भवामि देव्या नरदेव नर्तकः ॥
इदं तु रूपं मम येन किं नु तत्; प्रकीर्तयित्वा भृशशोकवर्धनम् ॥
बृहन्नडां वै नरदेव विद्धि मां; सुतं सुतां वा पितृमातृवर्जिताम् ॥
arjuna uvāca
gāyāmi nṛtyāmy atha vādayāmi; bhadro 'smi nṛtte kuśalo 'smi gīte ||
tvam uttarāyāḥ paridatsva māṃ svayaṃ; bhavāmi devyā naradeva nartakaḥ ||
idaṃ tu rūpaṃ mama yena kiṃ nu tat; prakīrtayitvā bhṛśaśokavardhanam ||
bṛhannaḍāṃ vai naradeva viddhi māṃ; sutaṃ sutāṃ vā pitṛmātṛvarjitām ||
Arjuna said: "I sing, I dance, and I play music; I am skilled in dance and accomplished in song. Give me yourself to Uttara, lord of men: I shall become the princess's dance teacher. As for this form of mine, why speak of it? To describe it only deepens sorrow. Know me, lord of men, as Brihannada -- a son or a daughter, bereft of father and mother."
