अथ मुक्ता भयात् कृष्णा सूतपुत्रान् निरस्य च ॥
मोक्षिता भीमसेनेन जगाम नगरं प्रति ॥
त्रासितेव मृगी बाला शार्दूलेन मनस्विनी ॥
गात्राणि वाससी चैव प्रक्षाल्य सलिलेन सा ॥
तां दृष्ट्वा पुरुषा राजन् प्राद्रवन्त दिशो दश ॥
गन्धर्वाणां भयत्रस्ताः के चिद् दृष्टीर् न्यमीलयन् ॥
ततो महानसद्वारि भीमसेनम् अवस्थितम् ॥
ददर्श राजन् पाञ्चाली यथा मत्तं महाद्विपम् ॥
तं विस्मयन्ती शनकैः संज्ञाभिर् इदम् अब्रवीत् ॥
गन्धर्वराजाय नमो येनास्मि परिमोचिता ॥
भीमसेन उवाच
ये यस्या विचरन्तीह पुरुषा वशवर्तिनः ॥
तस्यास् ते वचनं श्रुत्वा अनृणा विचरन्त्य् उत ॥
वैशंपायन उवाच
ततः सा नर्तनागारे धनंजयम् अपश्यत ॥
राज्ञः कन्या विराटस्य नर्तयानं महाभुजम् ॥
ततस् ता नर्तनागाराद् विनिष्क्रम्य सहार्जुनाः ॥
कन्या ददृशुर् आयान्तीं कृष्णां क्लिष्टाम् अनागसम् ॥

dadarśa rājan pāñcālī yathā mattaṃ mahādvipam ||
taṃ vismayantī śanakaiḥ saṃjñābhir idam abravīt ||
gandharvarājāya namo yenāsmi parimocitā ||
bhīmasena uvāca
ye yasyā vicarantīha puruṣā vaśavartinaḥ ||
tasyās te vacanaṃ śrutvā anṛṇā vicaranty uta ||
vaiśaṃpāyana uvāca
tataḥ sā nartanāgāre dhanaṃjayam apaśyata ||
rājñaḥ kanyā virāṭasya nartayānaṃ mahābhujam ||
tatas tā nartanāgārād viniṣkramya sahārjunāḥ ||
kanyā dadṛśur āyāntīṃ kṛṣṇāṃ kliṣṭām anāgasam ||
Freed from fear, having cast off the sons of sutas and rescued by Bhimasena, Krishna went toward the city. Wise, like a young doe frightened by a tiger, she washed her body and garments with water. Seeing her, O king, the men fled in ten directions, terrified by fear of the gandharvas; some closed their eyes. Then, at the doors of the kitchen, Panchali saw Bhimasena standing like an intoxicated great elephant. Marveling, she quietly told him by signs: ‘Homage to the king of the gandharvas, by whom I have been freed.’ Bhimasena said: ‘The men who move about here, subject to this or that woman, having heard her word, walk free of debt.’ Then, in the dancing hall, she saw Dhananjaya, the mighty-armed, teaching Virata's daughters. Then the maidens, together with Arjuna, came out of the dancing hall and saw Krishna approaching, worn out yet innocent.
