कन्या ऊचुः
दिष्ट्या सैरन्ध्रि मुक्तासि दिष्ट्यासि पुनरागता ॥
दिष्ट्या विनिहताः सूता ये त्वां क्लिश्यन्त्य् अनागसम् ॥
बृहन्नडोवाच
कथं सैरन्ध्रि मुक्तासि कथं पापाश् च ते हताः ॥
इच्छामि वै तव श्रोतुं सर्वम् एव यथातथम् ॥
सैरन्ध्र्य् उवाच
बृहन्नडे किं नु तव सैरन्ध्र्या कार्यम् अद्य वै ॥
या त्वं वससि कल्याणि सदा कन्यापुरे सुखम् ॥
न हि दुःखं समाप्नोषि सैरन्ध्री यद् उपाश्नुते ॥
तेन मां दुःखिताम् एवं पृच्छसे प्रहसन्न् इव ॥
बृहन्नडोवाच
बृहन्नडापि कल्याणि दुःखम् आप्नोत्य् अनुत्तमम् ॥
तिर्यग्योनिगता बाले न चैनाम् अवबुध्यसे ॥
वैशंपायन उवाच
ततः सहैव कन्याभिर् द्रौपदी राजवेश्म तत् ॥
प्रविवेश सुदेष्णायाः समीपम् अपलायिनी ॥

diṣṭyā sairandhri muktāsi diṣṭyāsi punarāgatā ||
diṣṭyā vinihatāḥ sūtā ye tvāṃ kliśyanty anāgasam ||
bṛhannaḍovāca
kathaṃ sairandhri muktāsi kathaṃ pāpāś ca te hatāḥ ||
icchāmi vai tava śrotuṃ sarvam eva yathātatham ||
sairandhry uvāca
bṛhannaḍe kiṃ nu tava sairandhryā kāryam adya vai ||
yā tvaṃ vasasi kalyāṇi sadā kanyāpure sukham ||
na hi duḥkhaṃ samāpnoṣi sairandhrī yad upāśnute ||
tena māṃ duḥkhitām evaṃ pṛcchase prahasann iva ||
bṛhannaḍovāca
bṛhannaḍāpi kalyāṇi duḥkham āpnoty anuttamam ||
tiryagyonigatā bāle na cainām avabudhyase ||
vaiśaṃpāyana uvāca
tataḥ sahaiva kanyābhir draupadī rājaveśma tat ||
praviveśa sudeṣṇāyāḥ samīpam apalāyinī ||
The maidens said: ‘Fortunately, Sairandhri, you are freed; fortunately, you have returned again; fortunately, the sutas who tormented you, innocent as you are, have been slain.’ Brihannada said: ‘How were you freed, Sairandhri? How were these sinners killed? I wish to hear everything about you, just as it happened.’ Sairandhri said: ‘Brihannada, what business have you today with Sairandhri? You, fair one, always live happily in the maidens' quarters. You do not reach the sorrow that Sairandhri tastes; that is why you question me in my suffering, as though laughing.’ Brihannada said: ‘Brihannada too, fair one, meets with unsurpassed sorrow. She has fallen into an alien nature, child, but you do not understand this.’ Then Draupadi, together with the maidens, entered the royal house, to Sudeshna, without fleeing.
