येन त्रिगर्ता निकृता बलेन महता नृप ॥
सूतेन राज्ञो मत्स्यस्य कीचकेन महात्मना ॥
स हतः पतितः शेते गन्धर्वैर् निशि भारत ॥
अदृश्यमानैर् दुष्टात्मा सह भ्रातृभिर् अच्युत ॥
प्रियम् एतद् उपश्रुत्य शत्रूणां तु पराभवम् ॥
कृतकृत्यश् च कौरव्य विधत्स्व यद् अनन्तरम् ॥
yena trigartā nikṛtā balena mahatā nṛpa ||
sūtena rājño matsyasya kīcakena mahātmanā ||
sa hataḥ patitaḥ śete gandharvair niśi bhārata ||
adṛśyamānair duṣṭātmā saha bhrātṛbhir acyuta ||
priyam etad upaśrutya śatrūṇāṃ tu parābhavam ||
kṛtakṛtyaś ca kauravya vidhatsva yad anantaram ||
"He by whose great might the Trigartas were humbled, O king -- the great-souled Kichaka, son of the charioteer of the king of the Matsyas -- lies slain, fallen in the night by invisible Gandharvas, O Bharata, unwavering one, together with his brothers, this wicked-natured man. Having heard this welcome news of the defeat of your enemies, O Kaurava, consider your purpose achieved, and decide what is to be done next."
