सर्वे च शूराः पितृभिः समाना; वीर्येण रूपेण बलेन चैव ॥
उपाविशन् द्रौपदेयाः कुमाराः; सुवर्णचित्रेषु वरासनेषु ॥
तथोपविष्टेषु महारथेषु; विभ्राजमानाम्बरभूषणेषु ॥
रराज सा राजवती समृद्धा; ग्रहैर् इव द्यौर् विमलैर् उपेता ॥
ततः कथास् ते समवाययुक्ताः; कृत्वा विचित्राः पुरुषप्रवीराः ॥
तस्थुर् मुहूर्तं परिचिन्तयन्तः; कृष्णं नृपास् ते समुदीक्षमाणाः ॥

जितो निकृत्यापहृतं च राज्यं; पुनः प्रवासे समयः कृतश् च ॥

upāviśan draupadeyāḥ kumārāḥ; suvarṇacitreṣu varāsaneṣu ||

sarvair bhavadbhir viditaṃ yathāyaṃ; yudhiṣṭhiraḥ saubalenākṣavatyām ||
jito nikṛtyāpahṛtaṃ ca rājyaṃ; punaḥ pravāse samayaḥ kṛtaś ca ||
And these princes, the sons of Draupadi, rivaling their fathers in valor, strength, grace, and prowess, sat upon splendid seats inlaid with gold. And when these mighty heroes, arrayed in shining ornaments and garments, had thus taken their places, that magnificent assembly of kings shone beautifully, like the firmament studded with brilliant stars. And these valiant men, gathered together, having conversed with one another on various matters, remained for a while in thoughtful silence, their eyes fixed upon Krishna. And at the end of their conversation, Krishna turned their attention to the affairs of the Pandavas. And these mighty kings together listened to Krishna's speech, weighty and exalted. And Krishna said: 'All of you know how this Yudhishthira was deceitfully defeated at dice by the son of Suvala, how his kingdom was stolen from him, and how he agreed to the condition of exile in the forest. And though able to conquer the earth by force, the sons of Pandu remained firm in their word. And accordingly, for six years and then a seventh, these incomparable men carried out the harsh task laid upon them.'
