ततस् तु भगवान् इन्द्रः प्रहृष्टः समपद्यत ॥
वरं च प्रददौ तस्मै अथर्वाङ्गिरसे तदा ॥
अथर्वाङ्गिरसं नाम अस्मिन् वेदे भविष्यति ॥
उदाहरणम् एतद् धि यज्ञभागं च लप्स्यसे ॥
एवं संपूज्य भगवान् अथर्वाङ्गिरसं तदा ॥
व्यसर्जयन् महाराज देवराजः शतक्रतुः ॥
संपूज्य सर्वांस् त्रिदशान् ऋषींश् चापि तपोधनान् ॥
इन्द्रः प्रमुदितो राजन् धर्मेणापालयत् प्रजाः ॥
एवं दुःखम् अनुप्राप्तम् इन्द्रेण सह भार्यया ॥
अज्ञातवासश् च कृतः शत्रूणां वधकाङ्क्षया ॥
tatas tu bhagavān indraḥ prahṛṣṭaḥ samapadyata ||
varaṃ ca pradadau tasmai atharvāṅgirase tadā ||
atharvāṅgirasaṃ nāma asmin vede bhaviṣyati ||
udāharaṇam etad dhi yajñabhāgaṃ ca lapsyase ||
evaṃ saṃpūjya bhagavān atharvāṅgirasaṃ tadā ||
vyasarjayan mahārāja devarājaḥ śatakratuḥ ||
saṃpūjya sarvāṃs tridaśān ṛṣīṃś cāpi tapodhanān ||
indraḥ pramudito rājan dharmeṇāpālayat prajāḥ ||
evaṃ duḥkham anuprāptam indreṇa saha bhāryayā ||
ajñātavāsaś ca kṛtaḥ śatrūṇāṃ vadhakāṅkṣayā ||
And the great lord Indra was pleased and granted a boon to Atharvangiras. And Indra said: 'You will be known as the rishi named Atharvangiras in the Atharvaveda, and you shall also receive a share in the sacrifices.' And having thus honored Atharvangiras, the great lord Indra, who had performed a hundred sacrifices, took leave of him, O great king. And he honored all the gods and all the sages rich in the wealth of austerity. And, O king, Indra, rejoicing, righteously ruled over his subjects. Such suffering did Indra undergo together with his wife. And in order to destroy his enemies, even he was compelled to live for a time in hiding. You should not take it to heart, O king of kings, that you have suffered together with Draupadi, as well as with your noble brothers, in the great forest.
