Yet in all people the Supreme Soul can be seen equally. Indeed, he dwells equally in one who is liberated and in one who is not, with the sole difference that the liberated receive the thick-flowing stream of honey. This Eternal One, endowed with Divinity, is beheld by yogis (with their mind's eye). When a person makes the journey of life, having attained knowledge of the Self and the not-Self, then it matters little whether his Agnihotra is performed or not. O king, let such words as 'I am your servant' never leave their lips. The Supreme Soul has another name, namely, Pure Knowledge. Only those who have restrained their minds will attain It. This Eternal One, endowed with Divinity, is beheld by yogis (with their mind's eye). Even such is He. Glorious and Full, all living beings have merged with Him. He who knows this embodiment of Fullness attains his goal (liberation) even here. This Eternal One, endowed with Divinity, is beheld by yogis (with their mind's eye). That which flies off, spreading a thousand wings, yes, even if it is endowed with the speed of the mind, must still return to the Central Spirit within the living organism (in which the most distant things dwell). (This Eternal One, endowed with Divinity) is beheld by yogis (with their mind's eye). His form cannot be an object of sight. Only people of pure heart can see Him. When a person seeks the good of all, succeeds in controlling his mind, and never allows his heart to feel grief, then he is said to have purified his heart. Those who are able to renounce the world and all its cares will become immortal once more. (That Supreme Soul, who is immortal) — this Eternal One, endowed with Divinity — is beheld by yogis (with their mind's eye). Like snakes hiding in their holes, there are people who follow the instructions of their teachers or conceal their vices from close scrutiny by their conduct. By this the unwise are deceived. In fact, outwardly they behave without any impropriety and deceive their victims, leading them to hell. (Thus, he who can be attained through association with people of a wholly opposite class) — this Eternal One, endowed with Divinity — is beheld by yogis (with their mind's eye). One who is emancipated thinks: this transient organism can never make me subject to joy, sorrow, and its other attributes; there can be, in my case, nothing like death and birth; and further, when Brahman, who has no opposing force to contend with, and who is the same at all times and in all places, forms the resting place of both reality and unreality, how can liberation be mine?

The fragment 5.46.11-15 develops the central theme of the Udyoga-parva: the effort toward peace already unfolds against the backdrop of inevitable war. Key themes: Pandavas, Sanjaya. Dharma is revealed here through speech, the choice of envoys, fidelity to promises, and the kings' responsibility for the consequences of their decisions.
