Translation

Terrible will be the encounter between them, one that will end in no clear defeat. Skilled in the use of arms and endowed with heroism, all of them have won great renown. They might renounce the very sovereignty of the gods, but not the chance of victory. Without doubt, peace will come only after the fall of one of these two — Drona or Karna — or of Phalguna. Yet there is no one who could slay or defeat Arjuna. Alas, how can his wrath, roused against my foolish sons, ever be appeased? Others there are acquainted with the use of weapons, weapons that both conquer and are conquered; but of Phalguna it is said that he always conquers. Thirty-three years have passed since Arjuna, at Agni's bidding, satisfied him at Khandava, defeating all the gods in the doing. Never, nowhere, have we heard of his defeat, O child.
