वैशंपायन उवाच
राज्ञस् तु वचनं श्रुत्वा धर्मार्थसहितं हितम् ॥
कृष्णा दाशार्हम् आसीनम् अब्रवीच् छोककर्षिता ॥
सुता द्रुपदराजस्य स्वसितायतमूर्धजा ॥
संपूज्य सहदेवं च सात्यकिं च महारथम् ॥
भीमसेनं च संशान्तं दृष्ट्वा परमदुर्मनाः ॥
अश्रुपूर्णेक्षणा वाक्यम् उवाचेदं मनस्विनी ॥
विदितं ते महाबाहो धर्मज्ञ मधुसूदन ॥
यथा निकृतिम् आस्थाय भ्रंशिताः पाण्डवाः सुखात् ॥
धृतराष्ट्रस्य पुत्रेण सामात्येन जनार्दन ॥
यथा च संजयो राज्ञा मन्त्रं रहसि श्रावितः ॥
vaiśaṃpāyana uvāca
rājñas tu vacanaṃ śrutvā dharmārthasahitaṃ hitam ||
kṛṣṇā dāśārham āsīnam abravīc chokakarṣitā ||
sutā drupadarājasya svasitāyatamūrdhajā ||
saṃpūjya sahadevaṃ ca sātyakiṃ ca mahāratham ||
bhīmasenaṃ ca saṃśāntaṃ dṛṣṭvā paramadurmanāḥ ||
aśrupūrṇekṣaṇā vākyam uvācedaṃ manasvinī ||
viditaṃ te mahābāho dharmajña madhusūdana ||
yathā nikṛtim āsthāya bhraṃśitāḥ pāṇḍavāḥ sukhāt ||
dhṛtarāṣṭrasya putreṇa sāmātyena janārdana ||
yathā ca saṃjayo rājñā mantraṃ rahasi śrāvitaḥ ||
Nakula said: 'Much has been said, O Madhava, by King Yudhishthira, righteous, versed in morality and endowed with generosity, and you have also heard what was said by Phalguni. As for my own opinion, O hero, you have expressed it many times already. Having first learned what the enemy desires, and setting all else aside, do what you deem fitting for this occasion.'
