युधिष्ठिरेण दाशार्ह तच् चापि विदितं तव ॥
यथोक्तः संजयश् चैव तच् च सर्वं श्रुतं त्वया ॥
पञ्च नस् तात दीयन्तां ग्रामा इति महाद्युते ॥
कुशस्थलं वृकस्थलम् आसन्दी वारणावतम् ॥
अवसानं महाबाहो किं चिद् एव तु पञ्चमम् ॥
इति दुर्योधनो वाच्यः सुहृदश् चास्य केशव ॥
तच् चापि नाकरोद् वाक्यं श्रुत्वा कृष्ण सुयोधनः ॥
युधिष्ठिरस्य दाशार्ह ह्रीमतः संधिम् इच्छतः ॥
अप्रदानेन राज्यस्य यदि कृष्ण सुयोधनः ॥
संधिम् इच्छेन् न कर्तव्यस् तत्र गत्वा कथं चन ॥
yudhiṣṭhireṇa dāśārha tac cāpi viditaṃ tava ||
yathoktaḥ saṃjayaś caiva tac ca sarvaṃ śrutaṃ tvayā ||
pañca nas tāta dīyantāṃ grāmā iti mahādyute ||
kuśasthalaṃ vṛkasthalam āsandī vāraṇāvatam ||
avasānaṃ mahābāho kiṃ cid eva tu pañcamam ||
iti duryodhano vācyaḥ suhṛdaś cāsya keśava ||
tac cāpi nākarod vākyaṃ śrutvā kṛṣṇa suyodhanaḥ ||
yudhiṣṭhirasya dāśārha hrīmataḥ saṃdhim icchataḥ ||
apradānena rājyasya yadi kṛṣṇa suyodhanaḥ ||
saṃdhim icchen na kartavyas tatra gatvā kathaṃ cana ||
O Keshava, on different matters different conclusions arise. Yet success, O chastiser of foes, is achieved when a person does what ought to be done in the given situation. When a matter has been settled one way in one case, that resolution becomes unfit once the circumstance changes.
