कृपानुकम्पा कारुण्यम् आनृशंस्यं च भारत ॥
तथार्जवं क्षमा सत्यं कुरुष्व् एतद् विशिष्यते ॥
तस्मिन्न् एवंविधे राजन् कुले महति तिष्ठति ॥
त्वन्निमित्तं विशेषेण नेह युक्तम् असांप्रतम् ॥
त्वं हि वारयिता श्रेष्ठः कुरूणां कुरुसत्तम ॥
मिथ्या प्रचरतां तात बाह्येष्व् आभ्यन्तरेषु च ॥
ते पुत्रास् तव कौरव्य दुर्योधनपुरोगमाः ॥
धर्मार्थौ पृष्ठतः कृत्वा प्रचरन्ति नृशंसवत् ॥
अशिष्टा गतमर्यादा लोभेन हृतचेतसः ॥
स्वेषु बन्धुषु मुख्येषु तद् वेत्थ भरतर्षभ ॥

Transliteration (IAST)

kṛpānukampā kāruṇyam ānṛśaṃsyaṃ ca bhārata ||
tathārjavaṃ kṣamā satyaṃ kuruṣv etad viśiṣyate ||
tasminn evaṃvidhe rājan kule mahati tiṣṭhati ||
tvannimittaṃ viśeṣeṇa neha yuktam asāṃpratam ||
tvaṃ hi vārayitā śreṣṭhaḥ kurūṇāṃ kurusattama ||
mithyā pracaratāṃ tāta bāhyeṣv ābhyantareṣu ca ||
te putrās tava kauravya duryodhanapurogamāḥ ||
dharmārthau pṛṣṭhataḥ kṛtvā pracaranti nṛśaṃsavat ||
aśiṣṭā gatamaryādā lobhena hṛtacetasaḥ ||
sveṣu bandhuṣu mukhyeṣu tad vettha bharatarṣabha ||

Translation

What you have told me is undoubtedly true, worthy of approval, and in accord with reason. But listen carefully, O Vidura, to the reason for my coming. Knowing well the malice of Dhritarashtra's son and the hostility of the kshatriyas who have sided with him, I have nonetheless come, O Vidura, to the Kurus.
