जीमूतस्यात्र विप्रर्षेर् उपतस्थे महात्मनः ॥
साक्षाद् धैमवतः पुण्यो विमलः कमलाकरः ॥
ब्राह्मणेषु च यत् कृत्स्नं स्वन्तं कृत्वा धनं महत् ॥
वव्रे वनं महर्षिः स जैमूतं तद् वनं ततः ॥
अत्र नित्यं दिशापालाः सायं प्रातर् द्विजर्षभ ॥
कस्य कार्यं किम् इति वै परिक्रोशन्ति गालव ॥
एवम् एषा द्विजश्रेष्ठ गुणैर् अन्यैर् दिग् उत्तरा ॥
उत्तरेति परिख्याता सर्वकर्मसु चोत्तरा ॥
एता विस्तरशस् तात तव संकीर्तिता दिशः ॥
चतस्रः क्रमयोगेन कामाशां गन्तुम् इच्छसि ॥

sākṣād dhaimavataḥ puṇyo vimalaḥ kamalākaraḥ ||

atra nityaṃ diśāpālāḥ sāyaṃ prātar dvijarṣabha ||
kasya kāryaṃ kim iti vai parikrośanti gālava ||
evam eṣā dvijaśreṣṭha guṇair anyair dig uttarā ||
uttareti parikhyātā sarvakarmasu cottarā ||
etā vistaraśas tāta tava saṃkīrtitā diśaḥ ||
catasraḥ kramayogena kāmāśāṃ gantum icchasi ||
It is here that I once caught, for food, a huge elephant fighting a huge tortoise. It is here that the great sage Chakradhanu was born of Surya. Afterward this divine sage became known by the name Kapila, and it was through him that the sixty thousand sons of Sagara perished. It is here that a class of brahmins called the Shivas, who had fully mastered the Vedas, crowned their efforts with ascetic success. Having studied all the Vedas, they at last attained eternal liberation. In this region lies the city of Bhogavati, ruled over by Vasuki, the naga Takshaka, and also Airavata.
