सो ऽयं शोकेन महता तप्यमानो द्विजर्षभः ॥
अशक्तः प्रतिकर्तुं तद् भवन्तं शरणं गतः ॥
प्रतिगृह्य नरव्याघ्र त्वत्तो भिक्षां गतव्यथः ॥
कृत्वापवर्गं गुरवे चरिष्यति महत् तपः ॥
तपसः संविभागेन भवन्तम् अपि योक्ष्यते ॥
स्वेन राजर्षितपसा पूर्णं त्वां पूरयिष्यति ॥
यावन्ति रोमाणि हये भवन्ति हि नरेश्वर ॥
तावतो वाजिदा लोकान् प्राप्नुवन्ति महीपते ॥
पात्रं प्रतिग्रहस्यायं दातुं पात्रं तथा भवान् ॥
शङ्खे क्षीरम् इवासक्तं भवत्व् एतत् तथोपमम् ॥
so 'yaṃ śokena mahatā tapyamāno dvijarṣabhaḥ ||
aśaktaḥ pratikartuṃ tad bhavantaṃ śaraṇaṃ gataḥ ||
pratigṛhya naravyāghra tvatto bhikṣāṃ gatavyathaḥ ||
kṛtvāpavargaṃ gurave cariṣyati mahat tapaḥ ||
tapasaḥ saṃvibhāgena bhavantam api yokṣyate ||
svena rājarṣitapasā pūrṇaṃ tvāṃ pūrayiṣyati ||
yāvanti romāṇi haye bhavanti hi nareśvara ||
tāvato vājidā lokān prāpnuvanti mahīpate ||
pātraṃ pratigrahasyāyaṃ dātuṃ pātraṃ tathā bhavān ||
śaṅkhe kṣīram ivāsaktaṃ bhavatv etat tathopamam ||
Garuda continued: "This best of the twice-born, tormented by great grief and unable to discharge it, has come to you for refuge. O tiger among men, having received a gift from you, he will be freed from his anguish, will discharge his debt to his teacher, and will perform great austerity. By a share of his austerity he will unite you with it as well; with his own austerity as a royal sage he will fill you, already full of merit. As many hairs as there are on a horse, O lord of men, so many worlds do the givers of horses attain, O lord of the earth. He is worthy to receive the gift, and you are worthy to give it. Let this be like milk placed within a conch shell."
