चरन्ती हरिणैः सार्धं मृगीव वनचारिणी ॥
चचार विपुलं धर्मं ब्रह्मचर्येण संवृता ॥
ययातिर् अपि पूर्वेषां राज्ञां वृत्तम् अनुष्ठितः ॥
बहुवर्षसहस्रायुर् अयुजत् कालधर्मणा ॥
पूरुर् यदुश् च द्वौ वंशौ वर्धमानौ नरोत्तमौ ॥
ताभ्यां प्रतिष्ठितो लोके परलोके च नाहुषः ॥
महीयते नरपतिर् ययातिः स्वर्गम् आस्थितः ॥
महर्षिकल्पो नृपतिः स्वर्गाग्र्यफलभुग् विभुः ॥
बहुवर्षसहस्राख्ये काले बहुगुणे गते ॥
राजर्षिषु निषण्णेषु महीयःसु महर्षिषु ॥

carantī hariṇaiḥ sārdhaṃ mṛgīva vanacāriṇī ||
cacāra vipulaṃ dharmaṃ brahmacaryeṇa saṃvṛtā ||
yayātir api pūrveṣāṃ rājñāṃ vṛttam anuṣṭhitaḥ ||
bahuvarṣasahasrāyur ayujat kāladharmaṇā ||
pūrur yaduś ca dvau vaṃśau vardhamānau narottamau ||
tābhyāṃ pratiṣṭhito loke paraloke ca nāhuṣaḥ ||
mahīyate narapatir yayātiḥ svargam āsthitaḥ ||
maharṣikalpo nṛpatiḥ svargāgryaphalabhug vibhuḥ ||
bahuvarṣasahasrākhye kāle bahuguṇe gate ||
rājarṣiṣu niṣaṇṇeṣu mahīyaḥsu maharṣiṣu ||

Translation

"…wandering together with the deer, like a forest doe, she performed the great dharma, shielded by chastity. Yayati, meanwhile, following the ways of former kings, having lived for many thousands of years, was united with the law of time. The two lines, Puru and Yadu, grew, O best of men; through them the son of Nahusha became established in this world and in the world beyond. King Yayati, having ascended to heaven, was honored there—equal to a great rishi, a mighty lord of men, he tasted the highest fruit of the heavens. When time had passed—called many thousands of years and rich in many virtues—among the seated royal sages and the honored great rishis…"
