ददाति यत् पार्थिव यत् करोति; यद् वा तपस् तप्यति यज् जुहोति ॥
न तस्य नाशो ऽस्ति न चापकर्षो; नान्यस् तद् अश्नाति स एव कर्ता ॥
इदं महाख्यानम् अनुत्तमं मतं; बहुश्रुतानां गतरोषरागिणाम् ॥
समीक्ष्य लोके बहुधा प्रधाविता; त्रिवर्गदृष्टिः पृथिवीम् उपाश्नुते ॥
dadāti yat pārthiva yat karoti; yad vā tapas tapyati yaj juhoti ||
na tasya nāśo 'sti na cāpakarṣo; nānyas tad aśnāti sa eva kartā ||
idaṃ mahākhyānam anuttamaṃ mataṃ; bahuśrutānāṃ gataroṣarāgiṇām ||
samīkṣya loke bahudhā pradhāvitā; trivargadṛṣṭiḥ pṛthivīm upāśnute ||
'Whatever a person gives, whatever he does, whatever austerity he performs, whatever he offers in sacrifice — this neither perishes nor diminishes; no one else partakes of it: the doer himself partakes of the fruit. This great narrative is held to be unsurpassed among the greatly learned who are free from anger and passion. Having reflected upon it, a man who has striven repeatedly in the world and who beholds the threefold aim of life obtains the earth.'
