ब्रूयाः कर्ण इतो गत्वा द्रोणं शांतनवं कृपम् ॥
सौम्यो ऽयं वर्तते मासः सुप्रापयवसेन्धनः ॥
पक्वौषधिवनस्फीतः फलवान् अल्पमक्षिकः ॥
निष्पङ्को रसवत् तोयो नात्युष्णशिशिरः सुखः ॥
सप्तमाच् चापि दिवसाद् अमावास्या भविष्यति ॥
संग्रामं योजयेत् तत्र तां ह्य् आहुः शक्रदेवताम् ॥
तथा राज्ञो वदेः सर्वान् ये युद्धायाभ्युपागताः ॥
यद् वो मनीषितं तद् वै सर्वं संपादयामि वः ॥
राजानो राजपुत्राश् च दुर्योधनवशानुगाः ॥
प्राप्य शस्त्रेण निधनं प्राप्स्यन्ति गतिम् उत्तमाम् ॥

saumyo 'yaṃ vartate māsaḥ suprāpayavasendhanaḥ ||
pakvauṣadhivanasphītaḥ phalavān alpamakṣikaḥ ||
niṣpaṅko rasavat toyo nātyuṣṇaśiśiraḥ sukhaḥ ||
saptamāc cāpi divasād amāvāsyā bhaviṣyati ||
saṃgrāmaṃ yojayet tatra tāṃ hy āhuḥ śakradevatām ||
tathā rājño vadeḥ sarvān ye yuddhāyābhyupāgatāḥ ||
yad vo manīṣitaṃ tad vai sarvaṃ saṃpādayāmi vaḥ ||
rājāno rājaputrāś ca duryodhanavaśānugāḥ ||
prāpya śastreṇa nidhanaṃ prāpsyanti gatim uttamām ||
'O Karna, go from here and tell Drona, the son of Shantanu, and Kripa: this is now a pleasant month, favorable with water, grass, and fuel, rich in ripened herbs and forests and fruit, with scarcely any flies; the water is clear, sweet, and free of mud, the weather is pleasant, neither too hot nor too cold. In seven days there will be a new moon: let them appoint the battle then, for that day is called the one dedicated to Shakra. Also tell the king and all who have come for war: "Whatever you have set your heart on, I will accomplish it all for you." The kings and princes who follow Duryodhana's will, once they have met death by weapons, will attain the highest destiny.'
