वासुदेवसहस्रं वा फल्गुनानां शतानि वा ॥

प्रतरेमं महागाधं बाहुभ्यां पुरुषोदधिम् ॥
शारद्वतमहीमानं विविंशतिझषाकुलम् ॥
बृहद्बलसमुच्चालं सौमदत्तितिमिंगिलम् ॥
दुःशासनौघं शलशल्यमत्स्यं; सुषेणचित्रायुधनागनक्रम् ॥
जयद्रथाद्रिं पुरुमित्रगाधं; दुर्मर्षणोदं शकुनिप्रपातम् ॥
शस्त्रौघम् अक्षय्यम् अतिप्रवृद्धं; यदावगाह्य श्रमनष्टचेताः ॥
भविष्यसि त्वं हतसर्वबान्धवस्; तदा मनस् ते परितापम् एष्यति ॥

jayadrathādriṃ purumitragādhaṃ; durmarṣaṇodaṃ śakuniprapātam ||
śastraugham akṣayyam atipravṛddhaṃ; yadāvagāhya śramanaṣṭacetāḥ ||
bhaviṣyasi tvaṃ hatasarvabāndhavas; tadā manas te paritāpam eṣyati ||
“Neither illusion, nor Indra's magic, nor terrifying deceptions, nor answering threats will avail against me once I have taken up weapons in battle. Even a thousand Vasudevas or hundreds of Phalgunas, meeting me whose arrows never miss, would flee in ten directions. Go into battle with Bhishma, or split a mountain with your head; swim with your arms across this bottomless ocean of men: in it the son of Sharadvata looms great, it teems with Vivimshati as with fish, it surges with Brihadbala, it has Somadatti for its sea-monster, the currents of Duhshasana, Shala and Shalya for its fish, Sushena and Chitrayudha for its crocodiles, Jayadratha for its mountain, the depth of Purumitra, the waters of Durmarshana, and Shakuni for its waterfall. Having plunged into this inexhaustible and ever-swelling flood of weapons, you, your mind lost to exhaustion, bereft of all your kinsmen, will then know burning remorse.”

In this chapter Uluka's speech becomes Duryodhana's harshest weapon. He recalls the Pandavas' real humiliations, but not for the sake of justice — only to wound and provoke. Notably, the boasting here is aimed at Arjuna: Duryodhana knows the strength of Krishna and the Gandiva, yet still clings to power, revealing a blindness that arguments can no longer cure.
