धृतराष्ट्र उवाच
वर्षाणां चैव नामानि पर्वतानां च संजय ॥
आचक्ष्व मे यथातत्त्वं ये च पर्वतवासिनः ॥
संजय उवाच
दक्षिणेन तु श्वेतस्य नीलस्यैवोत्तरेण तु ॥
वर्षं रमणकं नाम जायन्ते तत्र मानवाः ॥
शुक्लाभिजनसंपन्नाः सर्वे सुप्रियदर्शनाः ॥
रतिप्रधानाश् च तथा जायन्ते तत्र मानवाः ॥
दश वर्षसहस्राणि शतानि दश पञ्च च ॥
जीवन्ति ते महाराज नित्यं मुदितमानसाः ॥
दक्षिणे शृङ्गिणश् चैव श्वेतस्याथोत्तरेण च ॥
वर्षं हैरण्वतं नाम यत्र हैरण्वती नदी ॥
यक्षानुगा महाराज धनिनः प्रियदर्शनाः ॥
महाबलास् तत्र सदा राजन् मुदितमानसाः ॥
एकादश सहस्राणि वर्षाणां ते जनाधिप ॥
आयुष्प्रमाणं जीवन्ति शतानि दश पञ्च च ॥

śuklābhijanasaṃpannāḥ sarve supriyadarśanāḥ ||
ratipradhānāś ca tathā jāyante tatra mānavāḥ ||
daśa varṣasahasrāṇi śatāni daśa pañca ca ||
jīvanti te mahārāja nityaṃ muditamānasāḥ ||
dakṣiṇe śṛṅgiṇaś caiva śvetasyāthottareṇa ca ||
varṣaṃ hairaṇvataṃ nāma yatra hairaṇvatī nadī ||
yakṣānugā mahārāja dhaninaḥ priyadarśanāḥ ||
mahābalās tatra sadā rājan muditamānasāḥ ||
ekādaśa sahasrāṇi varṣāṇāṃ te janādhipa ||
āyuṣpramāṇaṃ jīvanti śatāni daśa pañca ca ||
Dhritarashtra said: "O Sanjaya, tell me truly the names of the varshas and the mountains, and of those who dwell upon the mountains." Sanjaya said: "To the south of Shveta and to the north of Nila lies the varsha named Ramanaka; there men are born. All of them are of pure lineage, most pleasing to behold, and joy is their chief trait. They live, O great king, ten thousand and one thousand five hundred years, ever with joyful minds. To the south of Shringin and to the north of Shveta lies the varsha named Hairanvata, where the river Hairanvati flows. There, O great king, dwell the companions of the yakshas: wealthy, pleasing to behold, very mighty, and ever joyful in mind. Their measure of life, O lord of men, is eleven thousand and one thousand five hundred years."
